The movie says that poetry is a writing that comes outof your mind by imagining whatever you think of. It is filled with passion and emotion. It can be very long, or can be short as a few words. It is a good way to express all of your feeling out just in simple words. You can use alot of ideas and shrink it in to a short sentence. You can come up with a poet by just closing your eyes by thinking and imagining.
To what I think of poetry, it is just to make a simple line of words into a better and more interesting poem. Try and make up as many rhymes as you can to make the poem bouncy and simple. To compare it with the movies view of poetry, my way understand it is old fasioned, boring and not attracting. No one will enjoy it my way. Having rules sucks, because of it, you can write poetry as freely as you want.

One thing that the movie is stating about poetry is that it is to express your feelings. It also states that there is no rules in poetry, which is why Mr. Keating told the class to rip out the entire introduction. He was trying to prove a point and make sure that none of the students read that intro. he also tells them that poetry could be a simple three worded phrase or a couple paragraphs long. Mr. Keating proves that everyone has poetry inside of them. especially people like Todd Anderson. he made Todd express his feelings about the old man on the wall and then he burst out and it was a very good poem.
I think poetry is when the writer or author expresses his feelings and does what he wants to do. Writing poetry can also be stress reliving after a hard day. there are no rules in poetry just as the movie states. i think my view of poetry is the same as Mr. Keating's in the movie because if there were rules it would be pointless to write it if it had some dumb rules. one of the reasons why I think lots of students in real life hate poetry is probably because the teacher made them follow some rules in their earlier grades.

-What is the movie saying about poetry? Support your comment.
I think the movie is saying that poetry is a piece of writing where you get to express yourself through the words on your page. The writing is about passion and emotion, the thought of freeing your mind, and the feel of expressing yourself through words. You can write anything your mind dreams of, it can be as simple as a few words, or as much as a book, the information can be brief or very detailed. There are many types of poetry and many designs (included at the bottom), created by many people. No matter what people think, poetry is always fun and exciting.
Types of Poetry
List: A poem that is made up of a list of items or events. It can be any length and it can also rhyme or not rhyme.
Rhyme: A rhyming poem that has the repetition of the same or similar sounds of two or more words, often at the end of the line.
Shape: Poetry written in the shape or form of an object.
-What do you think of poetry? How is it similar and different than the movies point of view of poetry?
I think poetry is like painting, but instead of paint the artist (you) uses words. By using word choice and innovation, a poem can appear out of thin air. It makes it's reader feel an intense emotion, like happiness, sadness, love... Poetry is imagination, it will free your mind of the chains that hold you down. Poetry is like grabbing an invisible object, once you grab it, it is no longer invisible. Poetry is like what I have written, an ongoing list of words. Poetry is freedom.
I think the difference between the movie's definition and mine is that the choice of words used. The similarities between these definitions are endless. I think the movie explained the definition I wrote into simple terms. We both explained that poetry is free and full of passion, makes the reader feel emotions, and it can be any length. I think the world lives on poetry and it can be written by anyone.
