One thing that the movie is stating about poetry is that it is to express your feelings. It also states that there is no rules in poetry, which is why Mr. Keating told the class to rip out the entire introduction. He was trying to prove a point and make sure that none of the students read that intro. he also tells them that poetry could be a simple three worded phrase or a couple paragraphs long. Mr. Keating proves that everyone has poetry inside of them. especially people like Todd Anderson. he made Todd express his feelings about the old man on the wall and then he burst out and it was a very good poem.

I think poetry is when the writer or author expresses his feelings and does what he wants to do. Writing poetry can also be stress reliving after a hard day. there are no rules in poetry just as the movie states. i think my view of poetry is the same as Mr. Keating's in the movie because if there were rules it would be pointless to write it if it had some dumb rules. one of the reasons why I think lots of students in real life hate poetry is probably because the teacher made them follow some rules in their earlier grades.
